Re-Enactment

In both the re-enactment and the actual events, most people on the street don’t seem to notice the stranger holding a gun right next to them. I think that his body language didn’t emit aggression, and so people didn’t pay it any mind for the most part. A few in the video see the gun but don’t call out or alert others to the danger nearby. The re-enactment might have been made with the police’s knowledge, but the people’s reactions still seem genuine. It shows the gun unloaded at the end, but people up until then would not have known that. It shows how blind we can be when we aren’t told what to look for. At the start of the video, it also covers how easy it was for him to purchase the gun. Although not shown in the version posted, it later shows him getting out of his felony arrest and then getting the same cops to help him film it again. Corruption is seemly rampant in Mexico city, and this short video illustrates that quite well. This directly relates to America today. We have constant debates on the police forces we institute and the gun laws being cycled through congress. I don’t think anyone would be comfortable with someone walking down the street with a gun that was so easily bought. The video might not have been made for these issues now but can be tied to real-world events. Most shows today make it abundantly clear the message they want to give, but this makes you think that extra second.
